Joining Forces: API and Serverless Architecture

Every once in a while, especially gifted minds come together and participate in an event that not only broadens their knowledge, but also creates a great network of like-minded experts.

From October 14–16, two such events will take place together at the Maritim Proarte Hotel in Berlin: The API Conference and Serverless Architecture Conference.

Altogether attendees can choose between more than 40 Sessions, several keynotes, and four power workshops presented by leading developers, software architects, and API experts from sectors like business, industry, science, and many more.

While the content in Serverless Architecture Conference focuses on mastering cloud native architectures, the kubernetes ecosystem and functions,
API conference is all about Web APIs, API Design & Management.

Looking at the program, it might be noticeable that two speakers appear in both program overviews. Let’s take a closer look at them, with special focus on their sessions’ contents:

Benefits of Serverless for Start-Ups

The talk “A Start-Up like way of integrating serverless-framework, API Gateway and message queue to handle webhooks for 3rd party services” by Jonas Schweizer from Laserhub GmbH addresses software engineers with an entrepreneurial mindset who are willing to integrate new technologies, provide new challenges to their team, and who always need to balance cost, value and risk. Special focus is placed upon the benefits of using serverless framework and how especially start-ups can integrate it.

Expert in both: API and Serverless

Speaker Nick Van Hoof from Ordina is an API and serverless expert, which is why he is giving talks at both conferences. His short talk Why you should use OpenAPI for your API design!?will show you how OpenAPI can make your life easier in a serverless world. The session Monitoring serverless applications on AWS: the monitoring monster becomes your friend.” will give you an insight in his experience of using serverless in production for more than a year and monitoring obstacles to overcome.

These are just a few highlights from the API Conference and Serverless Architecture program. There are many more sessions, workshops and keynotes full of expert knowledge and insider tips to keep you inspired. Take the chance to ask, code, surprise and educate yourself.

The Early Bird discount ends the night of Thursday, July 25th.

Attendees that register before can save up to €304, including a 10% group discount when registering with 3+ colleagues and a free Arduino Starter Kit or a free Raspberry Pi.
