Greener Planet

One of the "megatrends" of our time is neo-ecology. The term refers to the shift away from a wasteful consumer society towards environmentally conscious thinking and action. The core objective is resource-efficient and sustainable economic activity. What may sound utopian to many is already a reality at Klaro, a company based in Bayreuth in the German state of Bavaria. For over 20 years, the company has been producing quality products in the field of decentralized sewage treatment technology and separator systems in its own production facilities.

Durable components and solutions for the sustainable use of water as a raw material

If you want to sell sustainable products, you naturally have to look at your own organization first. Klaro GmbH is also aware of this, which is why the company’s philosophy is aligned accordingly. Since 2024, the company has been operating a PV system on its production building. The output of 163 kWp is sufficient to completely cover the energy needs of the production and office building and to supply additional power. At the same time, employees can charge their own electric or hybrid vehicles and, of course, their e-bikes at the company’s charging stations. You quickly realize: Longevity and sustainability are core elements of all planning and production at Klaro.

We remember one of the core objectives of the neo-economy, resource-efficient and sustainable economic activity, and, when we look at Klaro GmbH, we are already in the thick of it. When developing its systems, the company always ensures that high-quality components are used. There, longevity is seen as a central element of a successful sustainability strategy, because even less wear and tear conserves resources. Apropos: All products in the Klaro range are aimed at a fully biological treatment process that saves resources and energy. “We have been adding post-treatment solutions to our portfolio for several years now. Our Reuse modules allow the water to be used to water plants immediately after the treatment process,” explains Managing Director Tobias Pankse.

Fast delivery and then remote maintenance via WebMonitor

The environmentally conscious activities of neo-ecology also require a new business ethic that is geared towards people’s changed consumer behavior. This insight also plays a role in all of Klaro’s processes, where, for example, various standard products can be delivered just 24 hours after ordering thanks to optimized production.

And once the systems are installed on site, the Klaro WebMonitor remote maintenance tool allows specialist partners to access the technology directly from their office. This web-based maintenance significantly reduces the number of service team visits, thus providing a further building block in the company’s overall ecological concept.

Responsible use of water and wastewater

If we look at the mindset and actions of Klaro GmbH, as presented here, in the context of the megatrend of neo-ecology, we can understand the connection to the definition provided by the Zukunftsinstitut. “The megatrend of eco-intelligence describes the further development of ecological thinking and action towards a comprehensive understanding of the role of humans in natural systems and corresponding reactions to this realization,” it says.

Ecology should be perceived as an essential part of social and economic systems. According to the Zukunftsinstitut, the associated mindset is crucial for environmental protection, social cohesion and economic resilience. In this context, the responsible and forward-looking approach to wastewater that Klaro has been developing and practicing for over 20 years can be seen as a pioneering one: Sustainability is brought out of the theoretical corner and filled with life.
