Trotec launches new large-format laser machine

Precision is the key for anyone with big plans. In a world where time and accuracy are of great essence, Trotec presents the new SP-xP series – the ultimate CO2 laser cutter for large-format materials. From display and shop fitting to furniture and wood processing, it is the comprehensive solution for demanding applications. The industrial interface enables seamless integration into existing production environments and processes – a boon for companies that value efficiency and precision in equal measure. Designed for 24/7 operation, the new SP-xP enables high speed and reliability with every cut. But what exactly makes the new SP-xP series so special?

Harvesting time where others sow

The latest generation of our large-format machines sets standards in laser processing of material heights of up to 50 mm. The laser power of up to 500 watts offers a maximum processing speed of 1.5 m/s when cutting and engraving. Thanks to the increased power, the production time is significantly reduced, allowing jobs to be processed even more efficiently. At the same time, it introduces numerous possibilities in terms of materials and fields of application.

Better results, higher output

"At the heart of the SP-xP series is the revolutionary OptiFlow-xP extraction concept for large-format laser cutting. This innovation includes a newly developed head exhaust system, an airflow optimized extraction system within the X-axis and the 4-segment digital table exhaust system," explains Harald Katzinger, Product Manager Large-Format at Trotec Laser. The unique OptiFlow-xP concept removes vapors, dust and small parts as they arise. The outcome are reproducible, better cutting and engraving results, while at the same time ensuring long-term protection of the machine components. The constant and fast air flow significantly reduces flame formation, especially when cutting acrylic sheets, which prevents fires and damage to the materials. In addition to the safe and higher product quality, the improved suction performance at the table supports the handling of thin and flexible materials such as foils and textiles, as the material is better sucked in and thus strongly fixed and lies flat.

As a further advantage, the quiet and centrally controlled periphery, including the water chiller and exhaust unit, provide a pleasant working environment that promotes the concentration of operator and thus reduces the risk of accidents and errors.

Several machines in one

The section mode enables simultaneous processing of different materials and thicknesses. The work area can be virtually divided into sections, which can be conveniently controlled with the user-friendly Trotec Laser Software Ruby®. You can choose between engraving, print & cut and other applications to meet the requirements of different jobs, materials and thicknesses. This not only increases productivity but also optimizes the entire process flow, especially in set production. The option of operating sections with different materials also increases flexibility and enables even more efficient working methods.

Non-stop laser processing

Maximum machine uptime is an essential factor for companies.  The new SP-xP series guarantees high machine availability thanks to the central monitoring function of Ruby®. This intuitive, universal Trotec laser software enables comprehensive control, monitoring and optimization of all system components – from the laser machine to the exhaust system. The centrally controlled and transmitted status data from the laser and the surrounding periphery provide additional security. In addition, log files, a dashboard and data export options are available for further analysis purposes. This function adds predictability to daily work. Furthermore, the intuitive Ruby® laser software can improve production workflows by allowing parallel job preparation and graphical adjustments both directly on the laser and in the back office. This means, for example, that production plans can be prepared the day before, allowing the operator to process jobs the following day.

Consistency is the key to success

Delivering repeatable results is a decisive advantage for companies, as customers expect this as a quality attribute. Reproducible results can be achieved by minimizing tolerances across the entire table. "The flatness of the table is ensured across the table – what is in focus in the left-hand corner is also in focus in the opposite corner. This is particularly important for thin materials up to 5 mm or for kiss-cut applications," says Harald Katzinger.

Safety first

Although safety should be taken for granted for every machine, it is not yet established as a consistent overall concept. With Trotec machines, safety is a top priority, which is why any trained employee can operate the new laser class 2 machine without an additional laser safety officer or other protective devices. Integrated panels provide further safety for operators by preventing them from accidentally reaching onto the work surface. Maximum protection is ensured by these panels and other safety features that set new standards in laser cutting technology for large-format materials.

The SP-xP series from Trotec marks a significant step in the world of large-format technology by setting new standards in quality and performance. But Trotec’s commitment goes far beyond the introduction of this new generation of large-format laser cutters. The holistic solution includes not only user-friendly laser software, powerful exhaust systems and a wide range of materials, but also extensive training, first-class service, advice and local services. Trotec offers this complete solution from a single source, which enables exceptional profitability.
