IPDS / AFP – A future-proof printing solution

Industrial continuous printing has been consolidating for years, which is particularly noticeable in the area of IBM IPDS and AFP printing systems.

Users are often faced the problem not to receive any new printing systems from the previous suppliers. Rather, manufacturers focus on other market segments such as single sheet and color printing systems.

IBM customers appreciate the benefits of IPDS and AFP data streams. Here, both content and control commands are combined in a reliable communication protocol to ensure a high level of security and convenience. There is currently a trend that maintenance and service for continuous forms laser printer will be discontinued or that their supply of spare parts can no longer be guaranteed. In addition, it happens more and more that large continuous form printing systems are no longer used as a result of reduced printing volume and the maintenance costs often exceed the benefits of the printer.

Continuous forms laser printers from PSi Laser GmbH are exactly the right solution. Instead of an expensive renovation of the IT infrastructure of hardware and software, the printing systems from PSi Laser seamlessly replace previous printing peripherals. In addition, the PSi printing systems with 600 dpi and a paper width of up to 18 inches are the optimal solution.

Based on a significantly lower power consumption and space requirements, as well as two tractors that can be changed by the user and an integrated cutter, the PSi printers have a significant added value and this at a fraction of the previous cost.

All of this happens without the user having to change his previous way of working. The used IPDS or AFPDS data streams from existing IBM® Infoprint 3000, IBM® Infoprint 4000, IBM® Infoprint 6500, IBM® Infoprint 100, IBM® Infoprint 75, OCE® Variostream systems remain untouched and the existing processes of the user remain unchanged.

PSi Laser recommends that users continue to print on continuous laser printers with the same print data as before and if IPDS line printers are replaced, additionally improve the print quality.

Of course, PSi Laser GmbH can support the users and accompany them during the transition and commissioning until the PSi printers are fully integrated into the existing infrastructure.

PSi Laser looks forward to hearing from you, we are available at sales@psi-laser.de at any time.

Continuous Forms Printers by PSi Laser – The Flexible And Cost-Effective Solution For Professional Printing Applications

PSi Laser GmbH is one of the leading manufacturers of continuous forms laser printers worldwide. Continuous forms laser and high-end dot matrix printers by PSi have successfully established themselves on the market since 1992.

Innovative product solutions make PSi Laser a trend-setter in the printing industry. With a print throughput of 24 up to 63 pages per minute (ppm) and relatively low costs of ownership, the products close the gap between line printers and centralized high-speed continuous forms printers. In many regions, PSi Laser is the market leader in the segment of continuous forms laser printers up to 60 pages per minute.

Special features, e.g. straight-through paper paths, multiple paper feeders, integrated cutter and the ability to process paper widths up to 18 inches (2 x A4/PP 4060) qualify printers from PSi Laser for a wide range of applications and branches. These would be, for example, banking, logistics, industry or printshops and mail order companies. The headquarters of PSi Laser are located in Freudenberg, Germany. Here, printers are produced for both own label and OEM customers. The products are exclusively distributed by partners, like VARs and distributors.
