Lithium, the white gold, rises in price

The future is not possible without battery storage. Therefore, lithium is a raw material in great demand.

Electromobility is still in its infancy but is visibly gaining momentum. The growth potential is enormous, because green energy and CO2 reduction is an issue almost worldwide. Raw materials such as lithium are therefore of essential importance. The price of lithium, for example, has already risen by a good ten percent in the first six months of the current year. Many car manufacturers are focusing on the production of hybrid and electric vehicles. According to estimates, around 14 million e-vehicles will be sold in total this year. Compared with 2022, this would be an increase of around 35 percent. In Euroland, vehicles that run on diesel or gasoline will no longer be allowed to be registered after 2035. In Germany, the number of cars with purely electric drive systems will have cracked the one million mark in 2022. In 2012, just around 4,500 electric vehicles populated Germany. By 2030, seven to ten million electric cars are expected to be on the road in this country. Currently, most electric cars are produced in China and China is also the third largest supplier of lithium, after Australia and Chile. Tesla, for example, delivered almost 94,000 electric cars in June, significantly more than in May.

If there are the predicted 116 million electric vehicles worldwide by 2030, which is a tenfold increase compared to 2020, lithium will rightly be called the white gold. And it’s not just the automotive industry that needs high-performance batteries. Companies that own lithium in the projects should therefore be in the focus of investors. These include Alpha Lithium or ION Energy, for example.

Alpha Lithiumhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/alpha-lithium-corp/ – is working on the development of two lithium projects, Tollilar (27,500 hectares) and Hombre Muerto (12,570 hectares) in Argentina. The famous lithium triangle is located there.

ION Energyhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/play/ion-energy-acquires-the-bliss-lake-project-in-canada/ – has two lithium projects in Mongolia. The border with China is only a few kilometers away and China could become a significant customer for the lithium.
