- Swobbee integrates two more AES batteries into its battery swapping stations
- Number of battery types in the Swobbee system thus increases to 10
- Swobbee takes over support of AES rental customers
AES and Swobbee are expanding their cooperation: In addition to the AES eBike Battery 2.0, which has already been integrated into the Swobbee system, the AES PowerPack Plus and AES SuperPack batteries will soon also be able to be swapped at the Swobbee’s battery swapping stations. The two climate tech startups are currently working on the integration, with the launch planned for the final quarter of 2023. And that’s not all: with immediate effect, Swobbee will also take care of AES customers in the rental segment up to a number of 500 batteries per customer and year.
For Swobbee, the integration of the AES PowerPack Plus and AES SuperPack battery types means that the total number of different batteries that are compatible with the swapping system increases to 10. This considerably widens the field of application of the Swobbee stations, as numerous heavy-duty e-cargo bikes in the logistics, transport and delivery sectors are equipped with the battery packs from AES, for example vehicles from BAYK, Citkar, ONOMOTION, Radkutsche and many more. For AES, the connection to the Swobbee battery swapping system means that their customers will be able to organize their operations even more efficiently and sustainably in the future by using Swobbee’s decentralized network of battery swapping stations.
Swobbee takes over distribution of AES rental batteries
For existing and future AES battery users, there is more important news: With immediate effect, Swobbee takes over the management of the AES rental battery business up to a number of 500 batteries per customer and year. The rental customer support refers to all battery models of AES, regardless of whether they can be charged and swapped at Swobbee stations. In return, AES will take over the sale of all batteries, including those customers that were previously serviced by Swobbee.
"We are very pleased to intensify our partnership with AES. This solidifies Swobbee’s service offering of universal battery charging and swapping infrastructure for all of micromobility, especially for professional players with a need for high uptime and efficient operations," said Thomas Duscha, CEO and co-founder of Swobbee. "Bundling the rental business with us is therefore logical. To simplify the processes for our B2B customers even more, Swobbee is planning to set up an online store for rental batteries," Duscha explains.
Lars Hillermann, CEO of AES, adds: "The demand for our intelligent battery systems is continuously increasing and we are happy to be able to offer our customers a comprehensive solution by connecting them to Swobbee’s battery charging and swapping infrastructure. By reorganizing our sales, we hope to benefit even more from Swobbee’s experience in battery management processes in the future."

As a provider of rental batteries and battery swapping stations, Swobbee offers the world’s first manufacturer-independent battery swapping system. The Berlin-based climate-tech company supports micromobility companies in implementing efficient, safe, and sustainable charging operations. Swobbee has set itself the task to build a network of battery swapping stations with the goal to have a positive impact on the energy and mobility transition. Network effects like cost savings and increased safety are created by reducing the distance one needs to drive to swap batteries and by monitoring all charging processes and batteries. This enables risk-free and cost-optimised operations for diverse electric micromobility applications, such as cargo bikes, scooters, kickscooters and mopeds.
