One highlight that Schaltbau GmbH will be presenting on the shared stand is the IntelliDesk driver’s desk concept. This innovative communication and wiring concept enables easy system integration within the driver’s desk. Each subsystem connects via a fieldbus box, so it can communicate with the train control and management system (TCMS) via a central master interface. The concept is flexible and represents a milestone on the way to standardisation and modularisation in accordance with UIC 612. Flexibility and adaptation do not only concern the integrated Intelligence but also the whole part of Human Machine Interface, which is designed and developed around the main user: the driver. Haptic and luminous improvements increase visibility, make the user experience unique and completely customizable to the different needs of the customer.
To advance the digital transformation of train transport, large data volumes have to be transmitted between railcars. Schaltbau offers an optimal solution – its enhanced UIC-IT NG series connector, designed to stand up to harsh environmental influences such as shocks, vibrations and other mechanical loads. The new connectors deliver CAT7 data speeds needed for modern digital applications, and complement existing models in the UIC-IT series, which have become established in rail transport as the new IRS50558 standard.
A third highlight on the exhibition stand will be the CP modular contactor concept, where both the mechanical design and power interface are identical – regardless of whether a normally open or normally closed contactor, disconnector or change-over switch is required. This allows flexible implementation of various different requirements in rail vehicles, without having to change the design. What’s more, an innovative and newly patented arc handling concept enables a consistently more compact unit, saving space and weight in the application. The first contactor sizes (1200 A and 2000 A rated current) in the CP modular system are in the qualification phase. The exhibition will provide a platform for presenting these sizes and discussing the concept in depth with users.
