hte and SINOPEC RIPP intensify their collaboration

The significant business deal between SINOPEC RIPP and hte was signed in early 2015. It comprises the manufacturing and distribution of three high throughput reactor systems for the accelerated research and development of petroleum refining technology and catalysts. The test units were successfully delivered and installed at RIPP’s laboratory in Beijing, China in 2016. hte was awarded the contract over competitors by presenting outstanding data quality from its parallel reactor systems in a comparative study on hydrocracking.

The advantage of high throughput experimentation is that small-scale testing reduces the amount of feed and catalyst required, while the quality of the data remains excellent and is comparable to pilot plant data. What is exceptional about the reactor systems delivered is the analytical suite that allows a precise quantification of complex feed and product compositions within the shortest time possible. hte’s R&D technology allows SINOPEC RIPP to reduce time-to-market for new catalyst solutions.

The collaboration with hte started in 2011 when SINOPEC RIPP acquired a high throughput system for the research and development of naphtha reforming catalysts. “With our research activities, we strive to become a world-renowned R&D center in petroleum refining and petrochemical integration fields. We appreciate the huge value of high throughput experimentation for expanding our business globally. In hte we have found the perfect partner to support our catalyst development, and we hope to intensify our cooperation in the future,” said Wang Yamin, Vice President of SINOPEC RIPP.

Wolfram Stichert, CEO at hte, commented on the deal: “I am very proud that we were able to cultivate our partnership with SINOPEC RIPP. China is a very important market to us. This successful project shows that our business efforts in China are very fruitful. We are honored to be able to lift this long-term relationship to a new level.”

About SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP)
SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), founded in 1956, is a comprehensive research and development organization specialized in petroleum refining and petrochemical fields. It is mainly devoted to the development and application of petroleum refining technologies, while laying stress on petrochemical integration and corresponding petrochemical technologies. In recent years, it has been reinforcing its innovation in new alternative fuels and energy sources. It is now in the process of transforming itself into an all-directional energy R&D organization mainly engaged in petroleum refining and petrochemical integration fields.
