Wind turbine plants are designed for a service life cycle of 20 to 30 years which means that over the years their functionality is exposed to strong atmospheric stresses due to storm, hail, snow, rain and UV radiation as well as salty and contaminated air. Repairing wind turbines onshore is very cost-intensive already and can increase at sea up to a cost factor of 100. Therefore, an efficient anti-corrosion system for all steel and cast iron components such as substructures, tower segments, machine parts, shafts, and hubs is extraordinarily important. One important factor is the protection system itself among others including the design of the structures, edges and weld seams as well as the allowance of the thickness of the metal, the workmanship of the coating applicator, and many more.
The conference offers expert presentations, focused knowledge exchange, interactive roundtable sessions, case studies, interactive workshops and networking opportunities. The agenda focuses on providing the latest practical solutions to approach current and specific problems and therefore the following topics will be discussed in depth:
- Present exclusive real-world case studies on significant projects
- Study the progress of new Thermally Sprayed Aluminium
- Understand different coating types and application techniques
- Minimise risks by understanding fatigue and the most accurate modelling techniques
- Navigate an increasingly tough regulatory landscape and comply with requirements
- Discuss the advantages and challenges of sacrificial anode protection & ICCP
- Get monitoring right by considering the needs of your project
This premier technical event will bring together leading companies of the industry, including EDF, EO.N, Innogy, LIC Energy, Parkwind, Rambøll, Siemens, The Carbon Trust, Vattenfall, and many more, to engage with the concepts for long-lasting protection systems and strategies.
